While dining at La Condesa this week, I happened to stumble upon a new food obsession. Along with a plate full of tacos and margaritas, my sister and I ordered a side of mexican-style street corn. I doubted her decision as soon as I heard the word “corn”– I have never been a fan of kernels getting stuck in my teeth. However, after my first bite of mexican street corn, I was an instant convert. I shamelessly twirled the half-eaten cob around looking for uneaten corn kernels covered in cheese and chile arbol. I wanted more!
If looking to plan a fiesta dinner party (or basically any occasion because it’s that good), you must feature mexican street corn as a side dish– The familiar taste of corn offers guests a place of comfort, yet the mexican-influenced ingredients render a dish that is unexpectedly delicious!
However, the dish is too good to be saved for special occasions, so make a big batch and store it in your fridge for a late night snack!
If you are drooling like me and want to get out and try some local mexican street corn, you MUST go to La Condesa and experience chef Rene Ortiz’s mexican street corn for yourself (Pictured below).
And thanks to Find.Eat.Drink, the entire world can attempt to recreate Rene Ortiz’s mexican style street corn in their very own kitchen.
Ingredients:
- 6 ears of yellow corn (local if possible), cleaned from the husk and any silk
- 1 cup of Hellmann’s mayonnaise
- 2 cups of queso cotija (Latin markets or supermarkets such as C-Town or Fiesta), finely grated using a micro-plane or a food processor
- 1 tablespoon of ground chile arbol
- Lime
Directions:
1) Char corn on the grill (about 8 minutes or until corn is cooked).
2) After corn is charred, paint on an even coating of mayonnaise.
3) Sprinkle cheese evenly over corn.
4) Add a few pinches of chile arbol.
5) Add squeeze of lime.
Get cookin’!

Although there is something beautiful and timeless about a traditional wedding cake, I think it has become far less taboo to stray away from the typical plain-white-tiered-cake.
From different color combos to creative stacked items, the possibilities are endless. There really is something so cool about these cakes. If you still want the classic cake, feel free to add an entire table of a variety, to spruce up the sweet treats.

AND….my personal favorite, THE CHEESE’CAKE’. For those of us who have more of a savory craving….

CC blogged about the idea of a cheese cake and I am still not over it, so I’m bringing it back!
These cakes may be adventurous, but they are so neat!

We are back and in full swing after a fun-filled weekend out at Moon River Ranch for Maley and Rob’s big day! Four full days of green pastures, sweet country air and adorable farm animals make me want to plan so many more barn chic weddings! Whether you play up the wooden tones with bright and happy colors or keep it simple and clean with neutral hues you are sure to create an intimate affair that your guests will adore. Looking at all of these photos makes me want to go back to Moon River…I am in love!
Cheers!

While we have been at Moon River Ranch this weekend enjoying the outdoors and celebrating Maley and Rob’s weekend wedding, those on the west coast have been enjoying the outdoors a little differently.
Weekend 1 of Coachella is nearing its end, but the music festivities will pick back up again during Weekend 2. Music lovers and art aficionados can once again convene in grassy open fields to sway to some bluegrass or rock out to some indie.
There is no denying that music festivals bring about a certain bohemian style for female attendees: ripped jean shorts, flowy tops and skirts, headbands, lacy somthings, flowers stuck in the hair each and every way…
But lets not limit festival wear to those few weekends of the year. I have gathered some of my favorite ways to transfer the look of festival wear to a chic, bohemian bridal look. ☮
We can’t forget about Anthropology’s very own bridal line, BHLDN , which is a haven for bohemian bridal gowns, headbands and accessories.

Peace out ✌
