My mom likes to remind me that for a few years of my life I wore a gigantic bow in my hair like every single day. Mind you, this was elementary school, so I think it was totally legit. But I was pretty small and the bows were pretty big. So in order to be taken seriously in the grown-up world, I’ve generally avoided wearing bows in my hair. Until now. You see Pinterest has made me want to buy a bunch of hair bows so I can do things like this, this and this.
Enough about my hair. Bows are feminine and chic and can be incorporated into your events in so many different ways. Dresses, shoes and clutches are all classic places for a beautiful bow. Unexpected bow details like napkins and garters are elegant and playful at the same time.

Since the Golden Globes I have been drooling over all the gorgeous dresses and trends. My favorite of all….DECO. Nicole Kidman killed it in her Versace deco gown. I can’t wait to start expanding my deco/geometric/1920’s inspired collection of jewelry, shoes, dresses….and not to mention the deco inspiration for events in 2012. It’s going to be “fabulous!”
So glam!!

In case you missed the Golden Globes on Sunday, I thought I would update you on the most important part…the fashion! The actual show was a little dull, but the stars did not disappoint on the red carpet! Here are some of CME’s favorites and well… least favorites:
The BEST:
Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen

Jessica Alba in Gucci

Nicole Kidman in Versace

Kate Beckinsale in Roberto Cavalli

Claire Danes in J. Mendel

Salma Hayek in Gucci – My Favorite!

The WORST:
Sarah Michelle Gellar in Monique Lhuillier

Amanda Peet in Marc Jacobs

Michelle Williams in Jason Wu

What did you think?

Snow finally made its way to Chicago this week. While I’m a true Texan
at heart who has no idea how to drive, walk or function in these
weather conditions, I have found some serious inspiration in this most
recent snow storm. There’s something magical about the falling snow
and something beautiful about the city blanketed in white. Winter
weddings can be so whimsical and romantic (um does anyone remember
Pheobe’s wedding on Friends? Serious romance!). I’m loving cozy
details like hot beverage bars, glamourous fur accessories, and
gorgeous backdrops for portraits!

Generally speaking, doing a Peacock Theme is one of my least favorite ways to design an event. I know what you’re thinking, “Wendell, you hate birds, so of course you hate it”. Yes, this is true. I do hate birds, but only because they’re unnatural creatures send from the pits of H – E – double hockey sticks.
Putting birds aside, this teal and hot purple color combo is just so harsh. This is a fast track way to make your event look dated very, very fast. This palette should only be left to the professionals. There are sooo many things peacock that its so easy to go overboard. Everything in moderation, ladies. Except for wine and chocolate.
So in the spirit of just plain ridiculousness, check out some really extreme ways to express love of all things Peacock. Singing: Pleeeaaasse don’t dooooo that”

Don’t do this to your flowergirl….
BUT! I can make anything work and I do appreciate how peacock is incorporated here:
sooo much softer and easy on the eyes!

Are you having holiday withdrawals yet? If so, I’m here to ease your pain! Last month we put together a RED, RED, REDDDD HOT holiday party for one of our favorite clients. We decked all of the floors and office spaces with fiery redness!

Not too shabby for a company holiday party, huh?
Can I get a thumbs up or what?!

The color block trend is not going anywhere this Spring, and I am loving it! Dresses, pants, bags, and shoes are all turning up in these fun and playful patterns and colors. The fashion world is full of brights and neons, in every shape and size.

This trend is also perfect for your next event! Even the wedding world is getting on board with the block!

Until next time, see ya around the block!
