Ladies & Lasses, tired of waiting for him to propose? Well then today’s the day, Leap Day! Irish tradition states that today is the only day it is acceptable for the woman to propose! For more detailed information on the subject, check out the movie Leap Year. And speaking of Irish traditions, I have been dying to design a kelly green wedding, so if you are too, then call me!

Cheers!

Who doesn’t love the beautiful charm of an outdoor event? Unfortunately, there are certain times of the year when asking your guests to endure bad weather conditions is out of the question. So why not bring the outdoors in? I love incorporating outdoor elements into fabulous (not to mention temperature controlled) indoor events!

I stumbled upon this amazing blog this weekend :: Fashionably Bombed. They combine fashion + mixology and it’s all kinds of awesome.
Anyone who makes a glitter cocktail is kinda amazing in my book…
But there are so many more!
I need to be friends with these two girls!

Ballet, being ever so graceful and feminine, lends itself to some lovely wedding inspiration. I love flowing tulle, soft hues of blush, and touches of ivory and black. Ballet inspiration brings romance that is both elegant and whimsical at the same time. And really, planning a wedding can be very similar to ballet – both precision and flexibility are required.

Listen up, class! Today we’re going to learn about some crazy, unusual flowers. As a florist, you tend to get bored of the same ‘ol flowers all the time. I love you hydrangea, but right now you’re like plain oatmeal to me and I need some spice in my life.
Take a gander at these and let me know when we can design your Dr. Seuss party!
One of my absolute favs – Blushing Bride Protea. Isn’t she loooovvveellly?

Beehive Ginger (totally easy name to remember)

One that you’ve probably seen before and grows here in Central Texas, another obviously named flower “Brain Celosia” – they come in all sorts of fabulous colors!

Can you believe this a is a green ranunculus? So cool!

and check finally, Buddha Hands! Its actually a citrus fruit, totally edible and a natural air freshener!

Need an excuse to throw a fun party? Lucky for you the Oscar’s are this SUNDAY! I couldn’t help myself when I saw all these cute crafts and goodies. From the ballots, to the “awards,” to the snacks, to the games…it’s sure to be a night to remember.

I’m feeling a little cheesy today… cheesier than usual anyway.
I am loving this cute save the date. It’s understated and sweet… after all we don’t need any more picture magnets for our fridge! And this super adorable table number/keepsake anniversary book. (This does not fit into my super elegant dream wedding…but I am going to have to figure out a way to incorporate this! It’s too sweet not to!)

Admit it…you like the cheese too!

The invitation plays such an important role in the event. Not only do they tell the guest, who, what, when and where, but they also set the tone for the event, tell them how to dress and what to bring! I love giving the invitation suite to the photographer prior to the event to photograph as well as getting some great photos at the wedding. Don’t forget to include this important detail in your wedding timeline. Here is one of my favorite invitations created by Mr. Boddington Studios from Maile Robert’s wedding last October. Thank you to Nessa K Photography for the beautiful images!

Cheers!

Down here in Texas, unfortunately it’s not often that I recommend soup as part of my client’s dinner menus. We have waaaaaaay more warm evenings than cool ones, so its hard to put a piping hot bowl of soup in front of guests in 90 degree heat, you know?
But, it’s still winter/spring down here so now’s your time!! Add that extra soup course to your dinner or swap out a salad for a gorgeous bowl of soup! And when it does get warm, incorporate these as little sips into your cocktail hour. They make beautiful passed hors d’oeuvres…

Red Beet, Spinach-Pea, Butternut Squash Trio | Smokey Tomato & Clam Shooters | Pan Roasted Poblano and Black Bean Soup | French Onion Soup Boule | Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup | Chilled Asparagus Soup

I was recently looking through some of my mom’s old things and found some great brass candlesticks that I have since stolen from her. I am currently loving all of these brass pieces and finding some inspiration in this humble metal.
I love the idea of incorporating brass into your next event!
