In case you have not heard yet, another film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, one of my favorite novels of all time, is set to hit the big screen in December of 2012. The film, directed by the great and talented Baz Lurhmann, stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey McGuire, and I don’t think I can wait an entire year to see it! Below is the first photo of Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan.

With shows like Boardwalk Empire and movies like Midnight in Paris popping up everywhere, I think it is safe to say the roaring 20’s are making a comeback. I for one am totally loving this art deco time period, and it can be the perfect inspiration for your own wedding or event!

Spotted… all things Gossip Girl. Gossip Girl-themed events are spreading like wildfire! From menus and dinner parties to high school graduations, the upper-east side has proven to be a hit.

Gossip Girl is a common reference for fashion blogs and style magazines’ inspiration. But considering the elite social events featured in nearly every episode, the party themes and sets just can’t be ignored.

Sometimes the simplest of events, inspired by a novel idea, can be the most fun and rewarding. We had the pleasure of creating a series of events for a small corporate group from Nike, one of which took no more that 30 minutes to set-up and 15 to break down – heaven, I tell you! We took over the parking lot at Mellow Johnny’s and gave the 25 person group their very own trailer park eatery! Inspired by the quirky airstreams, trailers and portable moving restaurants that have become so uniquely Austin, we couldn’t help to re-create the entire experience – picnic tables, colored umbrellas and all! In keeping with the cool and casual vibe of this event, we forgoed our usual professional photographer and instead used the Instagram app on the iPhone to capture all the fun.

Thank you to all the trailers that whipped in to feed this group of athletic animals – P. Terrys, Sugar Shack BBQ, Mmmpanada, and Coolhaus.  And a little shout out to our peeps at Townsley Designs for setting the tables and Mellow Johnny’s for being such a laid back and amazing host.

Trust me, the pleasure was allllll ours!
