SOLE MATES?

Okay, I love my heels as much as the next girl, but Christian Louboutin, you need to settle it down! These platform shoes have gotten out of control. The little hidden platform started out sexy, but these are borderline ridiculous! I mean seriously?

Cheers!

TRADITIONALLY MODERN

Maddie and Austin exchanged vows this past January at the historic Driskill Hotel. Like me, they love the less is more approach, so we went sophisticated and modern with all while florals and a neutral color palette. The result was chic and fabulous just like the couple!

Special thanks to Alexandra Minton for the photography and David Kurio Designs for the stunning florals!

cheers!
Sarah

ARE WE THERE YET?

Weekend getaways are always the best! I recently got to take one and was able to experience all of my favorite things about going on a road trip!
1. Stopping for a blizzard. I think if your trip is over an hour it qualifies for a blizzard stop.
2. Jamming to N*Sync Christmas!
3. Playing the bill board game. Don’t know how to play? Read the billboard out loud and then say “in my pants!”
4. Punch Bug!!
5. Listening to inappropriate rap songs! My most favorite: Show Dat Work!! #parental advisory
6. The windmill game. Count windmills and whoever yells “windmill” first gets a point!

What are your favorite road trip traditions?

IS YOUR FALL EVENT FASHIONABLE?

Fall 2011 Fashion is out and I’ve asked the incredibly talented floral + event designer, Wendee Sawran owner of Unexpected Elements, to fill us in on how she would design an event around these gorgeous Fall trends…

MUSTARD HUES

From Wendee…

craspedia balls and chamomile flowers | collections of mustard hued ranunculus | billy balls (craspedia) with succulents

JADE GREEN

From Wendee…

succulents make a great jade green compliment | berzilia berries and king protea

A TOUCH OF LACE

From Wendee…

china mums, anenomes, hydrangea, cymbidum orchids, cotton pods, ranunculus | white vendela roses | balsa wood flowers and dusty miller

CAMO INSPIRED

From Wendee…

olive branches + leaves | love the “flower-less” style centerpiece. Its like the gluten free of design… (get it? no flour aka flower)

RUST COLORED JACKETS

From Wendee…

bouquet of bittersweet, dahlias, tulips, mokara orchids | rust colored chrysanthemums | and of course fall leaves!

POLKA DOTS

From Wendee…

Wendee has one word: ANEMONES!

GRANNY PLAID

From Wendee…

when using plaid, monochromatic florals is the way to go :: super funky hybrid hydrangea | monochromatic and monobotanical – protea, lilies, dahlias | parrot tulips and roses

Thank you Wendee for the amazing ideas. You’re are a googlin’ fool! xo

PRETTY CHEESE, YES PLEASE

Ahh… I love this! I have seen these beauties and don’t know why I have yet to do this at an event. I need a cheese tower – aka cheese wedding cake – asap!

A note to my clients: Can we do this at your wedding or what? I’m not suggesting that we replace the cake, let’s just have this at the cocktail hour, m’kay?

Only problem is cutting into these beauties. Too pretty to destroy! Oh well… it’s stinkin’ fab!
xo,
CC

I DON’T HAVE A CRUSH ON YOU!

One of the biggest DON’TS when it comes to event decor has to be the iridescent crush linen. It’s cheap, it’s tacky and just flat out inappropriate, unless the theme of your party just so happens to be Trashy Disco, and even then it’s questionable. So, just say no people!

And to all the linen rental companies out there who still have these babies taking up warehouse space…a couple ideas of how you can put them to good use.

1. Use as drop cloths when painting chivaris hot pink or another fabulous color!
2. Cut into strips to create precious ribbon wands for your flower girls

Any others?

XO,
Sarah
