WEEKLY WEDNESDAY POLL

Ashton Kutcher is replacing The Sheen on Two and a Half Men…say what? Word around Tinseltown is that Sheen’s character isn’t only leaving the show but they are killing him off to insure he’ll never return. That’s harsh CBS…afterall Charlie’s what makes the show #winning.

Am I being punked?

FIND YOUR INNER CHILD

Every once in a while we all need a break from reality. What better way to relax than to delve into our childhood! Here are some adult twists on our favorite childhood activities…

Arts and Crafts: Trade in your smock and water colors for a more adult craft. Head over to Café Monet and make mosaic artwork to hang in your home.

Water Activities: Rather than inner tubes and goggles, rent some equipment on the lake to go kayaking, canoeing or paddle boating.

Cooking: As much as I would still love to make dinner in an Easy Bake Oven, cooking classes at Whole Foods may be a tempting alternative.

Sing-a-long: Put away the cassette tapes!! Why not spend your Wednesday nights in the summer at Blues on the Green in Zilker Park? Bring some snacks, friends, family and bug spray, and you’re bound to have a good night!

Field Trip: Remember all the field trips you took as a kid to boring museums. Well, now that you’re older (and of age) there is a whole new realm of museums to visit! Try going to the Spoetzl Brewery and see how the famous Shiner Beer is made.

Try any or all of these inventive options, and you’re bound to find a stay-cation of your own right here in Austin!

Remember: Work hard(ish), play harder.

NOT YOUR ORDINARY BURGER

Fancy burger joints seem to be popping up in every city, including Austin. These stylish burgers have much more than a slice of cheese and a squirt of ketchup; they wear toppings such as goat cheese, pesto, prosciutto, and even pickled ginger!

Austin’s own trendy burger bar, Hopdoddy, sure lives up to the hype. Created by the owners of Austin favorites, Moonshine and Eddie V’s, Hopdoddy is quite the treat. Located on South Congress with all the other great “austinite” hot spots, Hopdoddy, fits right in! The most unique burger on the menu is an Ahi Tuna burger topped with honey wasabi, nori chips, and pickled ginger. Yum Yum Yum!! Though the burgers are outstanding, the “extras” put Hopdoddy over the edge. Horseradish mustard, homemade ice cream, funky cocktails, real cane sugar sodas and challah buns made fresh daily.

If your gonna have a burger ladies, have a real burger!

BARCELONA’S BOQUERIA

I recently returned from semester studying in Barcelona, Spain. During my time away from the States, there were clearly some things that I missed from America— Deep dish pizza, driving a car, sports other than soccer, etc. But now that I’ve been home for two weeks, there are some things I honestly don’t know if I’ll be able to live without from Barcelona. The one thing that I’ll miss the most from the greatest city in the world is El Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria.

Located in one of the most happening areas of town, La Boqueria lay amidst the hustle and bustle of Las Ramblas (a grand boulevard lined with shops, gelato, and street performers). Historians say that there has been a market in that very location since the 13th century. Like a good wine, the Boqueria has only gotten better with age. It has continually topped lists as one of the best/most interesting markets in the world. With one step inside, you’ll understand why…

La Boqueria is the perfect glimpse into the Catalan lifestyle. One walk through the endless, yet somehow quaint, aisles of the market will allow you to learn more about the culture than any museum can show you. You will see the social, commercial, verbal and physical interaction among the Catalan people. And before you know it, they’ve sucked you in. Looked down at your watch to see what you thought was a fifteen-minute walk in the market has turned into an hour-long event. It is that easy to get lost in the crisp vegetables, vibrant fruits and juices, perfectly stacked eggs, living seafood, giant legs of ham, fresh nuts and delicious sweets.

¡Buen Provecho!

DOUBLE TROUBLE

What is better than a Bat Mitzvah? A B ‘Not Mitzvah of course!

We had the pleasure of working with twins Ava and Sonja on their B ‘Not Mitzvah extravaganza, and boy was it a party! The girls had very different ideas about what decor they wanted, so we blended one girls love of black and white with one girls love of bright colors and the results speak for themselves. Let the fun begin!

Thanks AG for all of your hard work! We miss you!!!

XO,
KW
