TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME

It’s Harrison’s Bar Mitzvah week here on the CME blog! Check back over the next four days as we bring you all the details from Harrision’s big weekend.

First up to bat…Harrison’s Baseball Luncheon. He didn’t want a full baseball theme for his party, so instead we gave it to him as a bit of a surprise at his luncheon following his bar mitzah!

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard on this event!

RACHEL + COLT :: PART 2

The ranch staffed timed it so that the animals would be munching on their dinner along the road as guests were entering the ranch. We started the night with skeet shooting, horseshoes and washers. After dinner guests enjoyed Colt’s favorite dessert – The Salt Lick’s blackberry cobbler. Colt’s best man, Jordan Shipley, serenaded his BFF along side country muisc star Aaron Watson. And the night concluded under the stars with s’mores, fireworks and a sparkler send-off.

RACHEL + COLT :: PART 1

I didn’t know who she was when she walked into my office to interview me for her wedding. She said her sister lived in California and that she was helping her find a wedding planner. I was asked questions about security. We spoke about a large crowd of 600ppl. She told me she was interviewing two other wedding planners and that I would hear from her the following week. I got a call the next week letting me know that I was hired but she asked if she could come back to meet with me and explain a few other details that she left out. She was at my office within the hour and told me that she was actually the bride and that her fiance was Colt McCoy. Down here in Longhorn land, that was BIG NEWS! My office is full of Texas natives and UT graduates and when she left our office that day, you could probably hear us shrieking from down the block!

This wedding was so full of love and joy and I wish I could go back and re-live it all over again. Rachel – you are the most beautiful person inside and out. You and Colt are wise beyond your years and you bring out the best in everyone that is around you. You are one of the most lovely couples I have had the honor of working with. xo

THE ROYAL WEDDING: PART II

Our first week without little mees {sigh…#tears}
In honor of Amy, we couldn’t skip this day without a blog about her fav – Kim Kardashian. If you haven’t heard (where have you been?), she is officially engaged to her bf, Kris Humphries. And boy did Kris do it up big… yep, 20 carats big.

Kris asked for KK’s hand in style…. rose petals, horses, a dinner party with her fam…
And to celebrate the big moment, KK’s mom ordered a Cinderella themed cake from Hansen’s Cakes.

Congrats Kim and Kris! Call us!! :)

SPIKED SHAKES

Add some sweetness to your summer with “adult” shakes, malts and floats. They are served up everywhere across the country… getyousome!

The Chocolate Cowboy from The Burger Bar is chocolate ice cream, chocolate whipped cream mixed together with a shot of good ol’ American whiskey.

- Bar Burgers @ Bourbon Steak in Miami, FL
Bourbon Malted, a mixture of Jim Beam and salty caramel.

Dumont Burger in Brooklyn, NY
“boozy shakes,” including an espresso-powder-laced White Russian.

Ted’s Bulletin in Washington, DC
ice cream-based grasshopper, tequila sunrise, or a Bailey’s caramel macchiato…

BLT Burger in New York City and Las Vegas
Signature shakes include Grandma’s Treat (vanilla ice cream + Maker’s Mark and caramel), and the Night Rider, a blend of Kahlua, chocolate liqueur, Oreo cookies and chocolate ice cream.

Twisted Root Burger Co. in Dallas, TX
Amaretto-Oreo shake or a Bailey’s and bananas.

Across the pond Brits are getting drunk on American comfort food in London with spiked milkshakes at Profile SoHo in London.
Mud Slide
Ice cream, vodka, Baileys, Kaluha.
Banoffee
Ice cream, banana liqueur, butterscotch schnapps.

What about a float?
Coke Float + Rum
Root beer Float + Bourbon

Is Beer your thing?
Use porters, stout, anything with some roasted flavors. A lot of the stouts especially, have some great coffee and chocolate flavors – pair it with vanilla ice cream.

Want to go lighter?
Spiked Sorbet: pomegranate sorbet drenched in Red Sangria and served in a wine glass with a splash of soda.
Strawberry Lemon Shake: with a touch of limoncello or a splash of St. Germain elderflower liqueur.
Orange Creamsicle Snow Cones: orange concentrate, Cointreau, vanilla vodka

Get the guests involved with choices of toppings for their shakes and floats – whipped cream, brownie crumble, butter pecan, malt powder, chocolate shavings and crushed candy bar toppings.

Austinites, call Luis at The Chocolate Cup and let them do the work for you – complete with a white tufted milkshake bar set up.

yes + yum!

TRAY CHIC

I have a small addiction to trays. Some people collect fine art, coins or vintage wine. I somehow started collecting trays along the way. I think it comes from my OCD ways and having to make sure everything is organized and has it’s place. There’s something about placing piles of things on a tray that just makes it look so finished. In my humble abode, you will find trays on my coffee table, bookshelf, kitchen, dresser, on my guest bed, my bathroom—basically every room in my house. Now that I see this in print I realize I have a problem. I just can’t help myself!

Trays come in every shape and form and are a perfect accessory for your event. Our favorite caterer, Kurant Events, uses the most unique trays to pass hors d’oeuvres. They’re like works of art! We love to work in a tray for our escort card displays. Mirror trays filled with wheat grass or a simple white tray filled with color coordinated jelly beans-love them both! We used a family heirloom glass tray under one of our wedding cakes. A subtle but meaningful touch to this cake table. There are so many ways you can work a tray into your events.

I recently discovered Katie Maennle’s preppy customized trays and I just have to share them with you all. They really caught my eye and now I MUST HAVE ONE.

Now I hope you think of me the next time you pull out your silver tray.

Cheers!
Elizabeth

THE END OF A BLERA

As some of you know and most of you don’t, this is my last week at Caplan Miller, which means today is my last blog day. Depressing, right? Trust me… I know it’s sad and that you’ll miss me. I am embarking on a new journey to Dallas. No comments from the peanut gallery please…but wish me luck!

To my precious readers – I have loved, loved, loved, writing for y’all every Thursday. It has seriously been one of my favorite things to do. I hope that you have taken something away with you from all of them. Whether it’s what’s in this season, what nail polish color to choose from, or just my amazing lingo and ‘Amyisms’ – every thing I have ever said is extremely important. If you haven’t, no worries…I have created inspiration boards with a little touch from every single one of my blogs to remind you! ☺

To my absolute favorite ladies at CME – Courtney, Sarah, Elizabeth, Katherine and Dani: I would not be the person I am today without each one of you and couldn’t thank you enough. If I could buy each of you the world, I would. Thanks for being the BEST coworkers and friends I could ask for. This surely is the end of a blera (blog+era=blera). Peace, Love and Caplan Miller Events. For the last time…

You know you love me!
Xoxo,
AG

BEAUTIFUL DRISKILL WEDDING

Happy Tuesday! Today I am bringing you a treat, a January wedding at the Historic Driskill hotel. The bride and groom wanted something elegant and timeless like the hotel, but kept it current with long tables and a color palette of creams and golds. Thanks to Alexandra Minton for these stunning photographs!

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard on this event!
