GREEN DAY

In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, I would like to dedicate today’s blog to the color green. Let me get deep and psychological here, for a sec. This glowing hue is said to be good for your heart and your equilibrium. Green brings relaxation and creates feelings of comfort, while suggesting stability and endurance. Sounds like the perfect guy, right? Sign me up for a date with green…WINNING!

Aside from all the mushy stuff, green has made it’s way back into the fashion scene and I am obsessed. DUH. Seriously, at this point, what am I not obsessed with??? There are so many shades to play with and so many other colors that complement it. You will be sure to rock this, so go deck yourself – happy greening!

This year on St. Patty’s – don’t black out, GREEN OUT. Until next time…

You know you love me!

MANGAGEMENT

One of the latest trends that we have gotten wind of is the Mangagement Ring. Grooms-to-be everywhere have started sporting their wedding bands when they get engaged rather than after they are married. Traditionally the engagement ring is reserved for the bride, while the groom goes ring-less until after the ceremony, however it seems that men these days have started feeling left out and they want to sport their bling too! Even some celebrities have gotten on this train, declaring they are sadly off limits as soon as they pop that big question!

Whether you are a fan of this trend or not, ladies if you like it it is now ok to put a ring on it!!!!

WOW!

KW

TOTES INAPPROPS

Ok people! This blog is TOTES INAPPROPS (for those who need translation: totally inappropriate). I know Im supposed to be profesh and all, but sometimes we gotta break the rules, ok?

Today we’re talking bachelorette parties….
In some circles its about female bonding. In others its about drunken debauchery. According to etiquette expert Peggy Post, “Whatever entertainment is planned, it should not embarrass, humiliate, or endanger the honoree or any of the guests.” Ha!!!!! Nope!!!

My friends are funny. Seriously, the most best funniest ever. When it came time for my friend Emily’s bachelorette party, what we did was cheap and easy and we were the talk of the town (bars). We came up with a dirty name for each girl. Bought packs of wife beaters, fabric paint and stencils and made the attire for our wild night.

(pardon my large boobs in your face)

Planning a bachelorette party? You should probably copy this asap. You’re welks!

I’LL STAND BY SHOE

We already know that I am obsessed with shoes… duh. I can’t help it if my eyes are instantly drawn to them or if my shopbop cart is always filled with them. It’s a borderline illness and I’m perfectly content with that. And to make matters worse, have you seen the trends for spring? Absolutely fantastic. This just means I must get more. You read me right – MUST. Yikes…this is clearly not my fault.

CLOGS – The come back of the clog started in 2010 and is continuing to make appearances in 2011. And although it’s popularity might dwindle down, the brass studding will surely make impacts for months to come. Loving these wooden clunkers.

WEDGES – Ah the music to my spring ears. I mean, how can you ever go wrong with an amazing pair of these babies? Literally going crazy over the patterns, colors, and styles. A pair of the Cynthia Vincent’s anyone? Uhhh… yayus!©

PLATFORMS – And now the moment you’ve all been waiting for… clogs + wedges = platfroms = INCREDIBLE. These are simple, yet striking and give immense feminine appeal. MY absolute faves of the seasons. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Spring 2011 shoe collection – you did me proud. I won’t let nobody hurt you, I’ll stand by shoe. Until next time…

You know you love me!

PURPLICIOUS

In honor of Mardi Gras and to continue along with the color theme this week, I thought I would reflect back on some of my favorite purple parties we have done over the years.
Enjoy and have a hurricane for me!

TERRARIUMS

I was visiting my parents a few weeks ago in Houston and they told me a story that I never knew about. When they were in their early 20s, my Dad started a little side business selling Terrariums. At AstroWorld. Yes, you heard me: AstroWorld. (RIP Texas Cyclone). My dad said he had a booth in the “Western Junction” section of the theme park (you know… cause Texas cowboy themed areas are perfect for terrariums). He didn’t actually man the booth, but would get angry late night calls from the theme park manager saying that my Dad’s employee would close his booth too early. And he told me he hired two “hippies” that would make these terrariums for him. They were sand terrariums using colored sand. Oh em gee!!!!! Far-out! And he even had his old business card:

Oh Dad… this is AWESOME!

Over the past few weeks, I have seen terrariums everywhere! They are making a major comeback. The New York Times recently did an article about these gardens-under-glass and I think I kinda need one!

I love this one from Etsy in a mason jar:

Martha Stewart has a video available to show you how to make them yourself: Martha Stewart Video.

And I even found one on Anthropologie’s website for $1,450! Dang!

Dad…it may be time to get back in the game!

SUGAR PIE HONEY BUNCH

The famous South Congress district is the place to be and be seen. With each trip back to SoCo there seems to be more and more people coming out of the woodworks. This happening street has so much to offer and sometimes it’s hard to take advantage of all the great merchants. I’m here to share one of the sweetest spots of S.Congress—Big Top Candy Shop! With your first step into this store you instantly travel back into time when things were much more sweet and simple. taffy-fudge-ice cream-pixy stix-hard candy-all things sour-sixlets-truffles-pop rocks-smarties-rock candy-cotton candy-candy cigarettes—just to name a few of their sweet treats. They’ve got it all!

Candy is one of those items that never goes out of style. It’s so easy to incorporate into your events—favors for weddings, candy breaks for conferences, candy stations for mitzvahs. There’s something comforting about candy. Work it into your events anytime you can. And your everyday life too—why not?!

Cheers!
Elizabeth

BI-WINNING

I’m here to do what I do best, which is gossip – duh. So I have two words for you. Charlie Sheen. YIKES. I mean, what else could I possibly talk about? I am fascinated by the ‘Sheen Interview’ phenomenon that has been going on this week. This is the guy who is the son of actor Martin Sheen and the one who once stole Denise Richards’ heart. And yes, this is the same heartthrob from Major League and the bad boy who made a small cameo in Ferris Beuller’s Day Off. And while some may think it’s a darn shame, I am absolutely thrilled by this entertainment.

If you want to be a part of this madness, follow him @charliesheen. This knucklehead has been on twitter for less than 3 days and already has over 1 million followers. I guess his addictions are making us addicted to him and I could not be happier about it. Honestly, who needs Two and a Half Men? In case for some odd reason, you have missed what’s been going on, grab a bag popcorn, click on the links below and see how he “rolls”. Amazeballs.

Charlie Sheen – Good Morning America
Charlie Sheen – CNN

Just remember that you are not bipolar, but “bi-winning – you win here and you win there…” Until next time…

You know you love me!
