TERRARIUMS
I was visiting my parents a few weeks ago in Houston and they told me a story that I never knew about. When they were in their early 20s, my Dad started a little side business selling Terrariums. At AstroWorld. Yes, you heard me: AstroWorld. (RIP Texas Cyclone). My dad said he had a booth in the “Western Junction” section of the theme park (you know… cause Texas cowboy themed areas are perfect for terrariums). He didn’t actually man the booth, but would get angry late night calls from the theme park manager saying that my Dad’s employee would close his booth too early. And he told me he hired two “hippies” that would make these terrariums for him. They were sand terrariums using colored sand. Oh em gee!!!!! Far-out! And he even had his old business card:

Oh Dad… this is AWESOME!
Over the past few weeks, I have seen terrariums everywhere! They are making a major comeback. The New York Times recently did an article about these gardens-under-glass and I think I kinda need one!

I love this one from Etsy in a mason jar:

Martha Stewart has a video available to show you how to make them yourself: Martha Stewart Video.
And I even found one on Anthropologie’s website for $1,450! Dang!
Dad…it may be time to get back in the game!
