When I think about Valentine’s day, one word comes to mind – RED. What could be so good about this romantic hue you might ask? Allow me to broaden your horizons on this fascinating color.
Red enhances human metabolism, so it’s no wonder that whenever I encounter one of my favorite red sweets, I can’t help myself. I am instantly drawn to them and there is no way around it. You know what increases energy? You guessed it… red. Obviously when I see a coke, it’s in my nature to grab one and liven up the party. I can’t be held responsible for not having willpower… this is all on red.
As we all know, red is the color of love. So I would like to take this time to declare to you, all my faves, that I am in love…with every item that you are about to witness below. Red is also the most emotionally intense color in the rainbow, which brings me to my next point… I am not only in love, but I am emotionally attached to all of these items. Again, don’t accuse me… it’s all red’s fault!
Are you looking at all of this in awe like I am??? For the first time in, well, ever, I am speechless….
Actually, I could spare a few more words – duh. I want it all and it’s not okay. Boys, what are you waiting for? Go out and get caught red handed for your babe. And if you don’t have a beau this year, so what?! Go indulge yourself… you’ve earned it. Happy RED day! Until next time…

No list would be complete without this classic!
Top this off with the perfect cold weather cocktail. I was recently introduced to this recipe for Swedish mulled wine. Thanks Emily!
Swedish Glogg
1 bottle of dry red wine
1 cup sugar
Peel of 1 orange cut into strips
1 cinnamon stick
5 cloves
6 cardamom seeds, crushed
½ cup Port wine or sweet vermouth (optional)
½ cup Vodka
½ cup slivered almonds
½ cup raisins
Combine first six items in sauce pan and let stand for 4 to 6 hours.
Cook just until heated through; do not boil. Remove from heat. Stir in Port and Vodka. Sprinkle almonds and raisins into cups. Strain warm glogg into prepared cups.
So the next time you are stuck inside, kick back relax and draw inspiration from the classics!

Well, it’s that time of the year again when I am here to make sure your nails are buffed, filed, and painted perfectly with the most popular shades on the market. I must say, I am quite pleased with the nail polish trends for 2011. From the glittery, shiny metallics to the Tiffany icy blues to the pale peachy pinks – I’m in polish heaven. I am obsessed with each and am having a hard time choosing which shade I want to try out first. If it were socially acceptable, I would paint each of my nails differently, but it’s not, so let’s stick with one color per body part please and thanks! For you, my precious readers, I have chosen to share my faves that will last you during the freezing weather all the way until the end of beautiful spring. So indulge yourself, get inspired, and go get polished.
