STRAWBERRY MILK

Does anyone remember this stuff?

I used to LOVE Strawberry Quik! Now that Valentine’s Day is approaching I have my eye out for anything pink. I came across this recipe for homemade Strawberry Milk and it’s too cute not to share.

Strawberry Milk
serves 2
1 cup strawberries, chopped
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 1/2 cup whole milk

In a small pot, heat strawberries, sugar and water until boiling (it’s a bit like making jam). Let boil for about 10 minutes; mixture will reduce and thicken slightly. Using a fine sieve or mesh strainer, strain the mixture into a small bowl. You can save the cooked strawberries to add to yogurt or put on pancakes. Set the strawberry syrup aside.

Chill two small glasses in the freezer for about 10 minutes. Add 3/4 cup milk to each glass. Swirl in 3 tablespoons of the strawberry syrup into each glass of milk (more or less, depending on desired sweetness). You will have a little strawberry syrup left over, perfect for pancakes or adding to soda water.

BE MINE

Remember when you were in elementary school and you had to bring a valentine for everyone in your class? Some were handmade, others involved candy, but none were as beautiful as these sweet, grown-up valentines. I haven’t given out valentines since I was little, but these gorgeous cards make me want to send them to my to all of my lovely friends.

What about you? Will you be sending out valentines this year?

ROSE GOLD GORG

Anyone who knows me knows I’m obsessed with Rose Gold. I don’t want this trend to end; in fact I want to see more if it… on my wrist and at our events. (If anyone is wondering what to get me for valentine’s day, st. patrick’s day…or whatever other gift-giving holidays are coming up, I’ll take any of the below. And yes, I do consider St. Patty’s to be a gift giving holiday!)

In fact…while researching for this blog I purchased this little pretty!

I digress…Back to what we do best. I can't wait to use this gorgeous color scheme for upcoming weddings! Jessica…I know you’re reading…you are completely my inspiration here!

PLEASE DON’T DO THAT

Today we have decided to take a moment to laugh at ourselves. We’ve done many events over the years and it’s fun to take a moment to see how much we have learned! While, some of these things were trends at the time, they should never be repeated! Please Don’t Do That!!!!

Rectangle plate on a round charger!

2006 called, they want their arrangement back!

Life-size martini glass!

NO BLUE ORCHIDS! (actually, this picture is all kinds of wrong!)

OR BLUE DRINKS!

LED lights in your centerpieces!

Hire an ice carver who is high as a kite!

hahaha!

LARGE AND CURVY

Its no secret that I love calligraphy. I am not sure the last time an invitation left our office that wasn’t hand calligraphed. It just needs to be that way, ok?

I have a slight obsession with over-sized and curved calligraphy. Take a look at some of the beauties below. Get creative with your addressing… your guests will notice!

PROPOSAL WITH WENDELL

Its that time for lots of engagements happening. Proposals are all around you. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I’m sure you’ll be seeing a bunch of relationship status changes to “engaged” on Facebook. I love a good proposal story. From the elaborate to the ones done in a parking garage (ahem, me), I wanna hear ‘em. A few weeks ago, I assisted the Caplan Miller girls with a proposal at the Four Seasons. THANKFULLY, she said yes!

(this is me, trying to give Dani the full proposal experience)

Here are some other great ways to pop the question. Guys, take note. If you’re stuck, clueless or just need some help, call us! We’re like proposal ninjas. She’ll never see it coming!

OMBRE IS HERE TO STAY

Remember Courtney’s ombre post?

Well, I’m still loving ombre! We’ve been seeing it in the beauty world – ombre nails, hair, and even lips – and ombre (French for “shaded”) is showing up in wedding and event decor over and over. It’s such a playful, yet sophisticated way to incorporate color into events!

HAVE YOUR CAKE

Who says you have to just pick one cake? Our October bride, Maile loved Coco Paloma’s pastries so much that she could not just settle on one cake so she went with 5 and I don’t blame her! Don’t be afraid to mix is up with your wedding cakes. I did it 7 years ago for my wedding and I’m thrilled to see the trend is still alive and well!

Cheers!

MATCHBOOK

I love finding inspiration in new places, and my latest source is an online magazine called Matchbook Magazine. Matchbook offers daily inspiration in their “daily spark” section along with the monthly magazine. This publication instantly won me over with its love of everything classic and how to pair it with what is current.

Happy Reading!
