WEDDING MAKEUP 101

With the grueling summer heat and upcoming outdoor wedding ceremonies quickly approaching, a worry at the forefront of every woman’s mind is – how on earth can I get my makeup to last all night?! Well…don’t you worry, with a little help from Elle, Allure, and InStyle, we’ve compiled a list of the best long-lasting makeup that will endure any temperature!

We suggest that you first start of with a primer that will keep your foundation in place and the shine under control…especially with all those pictures you’ll be snapping throughout the night.

Now, on to the foundation. As a woman, one of my worst fears when dealing with makeup is having cakey foundation. Nobody wants a makeup mishap to detract from their cute new sundress – so here we have a few options that will leave your skin looking flawless!

Once you’ve got a clean canvas to work with, you need some awesome products to make those eyes pop! Lighter colors are usually more appropriate for an outdoor summer wedding.

A fun, colorful lip will really bring the whole look together! It may be the wrong season to pull out your favorite sultry red lipstick, but it’s more than okay to throw on a bright coral or punchy pink color to display those pearly whites.

And for the finishing touch, a few spritzes of this makeup setting spray will ensure that your makeup won’t stray as you dance the night away!

Ta-ta for now!

FAB FIND FRIDAY

ATTENTION: if you are planning on using your phone while working an event, invest in an iPhone attachment for your lanyard!

We live in these on event days. These are so handy, such a must….especially when without pockets!

All we need now is to find ones that work as chargers too!

WHATEVER FLOATS YOUR…

As we roll deeper into the summertime, my mind is constantly getting lost to the thought of gorgeous islands, sandy beaches and relaxing cruises. With so much going on this wedding season, we don’t have much time to float in the pool, so lets talk about the next best thing…floating your tablescapes!

I love the airy feel of this nautical table with the whimsical overflowing floral runner. And that ship-a-leer? DYING.

Utilizing an old wooden door as a hanging table makes for an eclectic look.

How romantic is this? I can’t get enough!

MUST…DO…THIS…NOW!

Cheers!

H2O

It’s officially summer in Texas. We haven’t hit the 100+ degree days yet, but we did hit 99 this weekend… soooo, yeah – it’s hot.

My summer event advice is to keep your guests hydrated and add to your decor at the same time by adding chilled bottles of water to your tables. San Pellegrino, Acqua Panna, Mountain Valley, Topo Chico and Voss are a few of my favorites – the glass bottles, of course! Chill them in advance and add them to the center of your tables. Guests will help themselves without waiting on a server for refills.

Want to get creative? Search the interwebs for glass water or wine bottles. Chill and fill with water and add them to the tables — there are tons of options available out there!

MACARON ME UP

Anyone who knows me is well aware of my obsession with macarons. This obsession is not limited to one flavor or time of day..if there is a macaron in sight…COUNT.ME.IN. I do not discriminate when it comes to macarons, but if I had my way, I would have one with every meal. I truly think macaron is the new cupcake.

On the event side of things, some may have thought that the French macaron was a fad. BUT have no fear, this macaron is here to stay. You can keep them classic and simple, or even try new flavors such as salted butter popcorn and cashew cardamom. No matter which way you tie in a macaron to your event, it will be the most beautifully delicious dessert. From bridal luncheons, dessert displays, place settings, to departure gifts, these little guys will be a crowd pleaser.

They are almost too beautiful to eat……….if you can resist!!!

Some of my favorites in Austin are at Polkadots!

Do yourself a favor and enjoy a macaron this weekend. You will not be disappointed!

INTRO: SUMMER 2013 INTERNS

Taylor Garland
Hey bloggers! My name is Taylor Garland (pictured left!) and I am currently a senior at The University of Texas at Austin. I plan on graduating this August with a degree in Public Relations and a Business Foundations minor. Following graduation, I hope to pursue a career in either event planning or the public relations field. After experiencing the public relations side of things in past internships, I decided I wanted to try my hand at event planning. As a cheerleader at UT, I was able to hear amazing things about CME through some of my teammates, who had the honor of being past interns. Of course I jumped at the chance when I found out that Caplan Miller had internship openings. I cannot wait to help put on the great events that we have coming up this summer and to see all the small details that go into making them happen. Needless to say, I’m thrilled to be joining the Caplan Miller team this summer!

Niki Newberg
Hi! My name is Niki Newberg and I am going to be a sophomore at The University of Arizona. I am majoring in Communications and have always been interested in event planning. I was born here in Austin, Texas and attended Westlake High School. I became interested in Caplan Miller Events when Courtney did my brother’s Bar Mitzvah in 2009. Ryan’s Bar Mitzvah was by far the coolest event I have ever been too! Everything was over the top and perfect. I can’t wait to have this amazing internship experience and to learn from the best.

Danielle Levy
Hi Everyone! I’m Danielle Levy (pictured right!) and I am currently a senior at The University of Texas at Austin, receiving a degree in Sociology and Business Foundations. I am a Houston-native, but am absolutely in love with my new life in Austin. I like to think that I have become a true Austinite! The addicting culture that Austin provides has truly brought happiness to my life and I try every day to take full advantage of it. Whether I am enjoying our 300 days of sunshine on Town Lake and Barton Springs, trying a new restaurant every week, or supporting local artists and bands, I embrace all my surroundings. Having grown up with a true appreciation for design, style, and hard work, I am very excited to work with Caplan Miller Events this summer. They are an amazing group of women that provide stunning work to all their clients, and I am honored to be apart of their team. I look forward to learning a lot and eventually taking my skills and experiences to pursue a career in event planning.

Thanks to Jerry Hayes for the gorgeous photo!

BRANCHIN’ OUT!

I’ve seen my fair share of branches in wedding centerpieces and to be quite honest, I’m not always a fan! There is just something about a gorgeous fresh floral arrangement that never fails to take my breath away. Though I’d rather have soft and luscious floral arrangement on my tablescape, I think there are fun and gorgeous ways to incorporate branches into your wedding decor for a fun and woodsy look.

We recently had a subtle tree branch peak into a romantic dinner tent at the Commodore Perry Estate for Meagan and Shane’s wedding day. It created such a whimsical atmosphere… I was in love!

Check out a few other ways that you can incorporate branches or twigs into your designs.
Umm… twig-a-leer anyone?

Cheers!
