Courtney Caplan Young
PRESIDENT + OWNER
As the head of Caplan Miller Events, Courtney oversees the event production team, ensures the highest levels of service and execution, and manages the company’s growth and strategic partnerships. She’s been planning Austin’s premier events for more than 16 years and has rock-solid relationships with the most stylish and sought-after vendors in the industry.
Courtney leads her team with skillful professionalism, meticulous attention to detail, a sense of humor and a unique ability to make current, classic. CME’s stunning work has been featured in BRIDES, The Knot, Style Me Pretty, Austin Monthly, Austin Business Journal, D Magazine, and Tribeza.
Courtney founded Caplan Miller Events in 2006, following a fruitful career in event management at the historic Driskill Hotel. She raised the entire hotel’s profile as a place to see and be seen — especially for work or weddings.
Courtney’s a Texas girl — born and raised in Houston and a proud graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.
SPOTTED: When the work day ends, Courtney loves boating on Lake Travis with her husband John and their two adorable pups, Olive and Roux. And — full disclosure/conversation starter — she LOVES TV! She’s probably watching the same shows as you are — ask her!
Sarah’s role is uniquely tailored to her expertise and natural knack for design.
Whether you want to present success or tug at heartstrings, you need to consider color, lighting, room setup, culinary concept and much, much more. That’s where Sarah shines. Sarah transforms an idea into a tangible place and program. She listens and understands each personal inspiration, then aligns goals and builds out a unique look and feel for each event — making every client’s experience entirely their own.
Raised in Central Texas, Sarah attended Texas State University and the Texas Culinary Academy, where she specialized in Event Coordination. Just like Courtney, Sarah started in hotels — first the Radisson Austin, then The Driskill Hotel, where she earned accolades for planning weddings for Austin’s elite couples.
Sarah serves on the Dell Children’s Trust of Central Texas.
SPOTTED: Sarah is heavily involved in the Parent-Teacher Association for her children, Will and Ava. She is a barre workout junkie, and also enjoys a simple run on Austin’s trails.
SENIOR EVENT PRODUCER
Dani manages the creative and logistical aspects of each event. It’s her job to ensure that the client’s overall vision and goals are met, from design and layout to guest lists and budget management. Customer service is key in this role, and Dani never misses the chance to delight.
A killer multitasker, Dani joined CME in 2009 as an intern while attending Texas State University. She took on internships at several other companies too — and logged more than 1,000 hours exploring the professional landscape — but found her true calling in event production. She joined CME in an official capacity in 2011.
SPOTTED: Dani soaks up the sun with her long-haired Dachshund pup, Cooper Little, or checks off new restaurants from her personal list of must-try eateries around town.
Anita understands that on the day of an event, it’s all about the client. Think of her as a right hand, a fire extinguisher… maybe even a secret weapon armed with a “whatever it takes” philosophy. Anita’s at the table from start to finish, helping pick vendors, curate the menu, and scout the band that’ll keep people busting moves on the dance floor all night long. She manages pre-event logistics and serves as the client’s and vendors’ main point of contact at the event — then wraps it all up and recaps to ensure client satisfaction.
This hard-working, go-getting event planner graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2012.
SPOTTED: Anita is a brunch-aficionado and a lover of wine, so you can find her honing her personal passions at Austin’s trending brunch spots. She spends plenty of quality time with her loving family, cute nieces, and two kittens — Max and Ella.
Nicole is a master organizer who plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations at Caplan Miller Events. Making clients happy makes Nicole happy, and she’s the perfect person to ensure inquiries, updates and details stay in order and day-to-day operations run smoothly. She is also the friendly voice that CME clients hear when calling the office.
Nicole attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she spent much of her time as the Art Director for the University Fashion Group. She also interned with C3 Presents where she supported the merchandising team at two of America’s largest festivals, Lollapalooza and the Austin City Limits Music Festival. It keeps coming: Nicole worked with the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in 2012 and 2013. And all that experience came with her to CME, where she lends a smart and savvy hand to client experiences every day.
SPOTTED: Always in search for a unique find, Nicole often browses Austin’s top boutiques. She loves getting some lakeside sun, and enjoying the live music Austin has to offer.
OLIVE, Director of Licks & Kisses
I’m Courtney’s super sweet black Pug with a chin full of gray hairs and a permanent frown on my face. But don’t let my perma-frown fool you! I have an uncontrollable urge to kiss and lick your face at all times. I hope that is okay. Come see me staring out of the CME office windows and barking loudly whenever trucks drive by.
ROUX, Director of Barking Entertainment
My name is Roux. Is there any pup cuter? I’m a very rare blue and white French Bulldog and I work out on a regular basis. I am 19 lbs of pure muscle and I love to bark (real loud) and run anytime someone comes to the office. Come see me as I work out all day by running from one end of the office to the other.
COOPER, Director of Napping
I’m Cooper. Excuse me while I yawn and lounge. I’m the tiny and adorable long hair Dachshund mix and I.Am.Tired. I love resting in bed. When I am awake, you can find me attending meetings at the CME conference table. I am very good at jumping up into the chairs and leading the staff meetings.
